London, CAN

Welcome to beautiful London, with a population of over 350,000, it’s the economic and cultural hub of South-western Ontario located on major road, rail and air travel routes. The University of Western Ontario and Fanshawe College both call London home as does Labatt Breweries. The city boasts having some of the finest accommodations available from cost effective bed and breakfast to luxury suites.
Steeped in history many tourist destinations can be found through the London Heritage Council including Eldon House, London's oldest surviving private dwelling built in 1834 by Captain John Harris. Banting House National Historic Site is known as 'the birthplace of insulin', the Museum occupies the house where Dr. Banting lived and practiced medicine. For a visit to living history there’s Fanshawe Pioneer Village or the Jet Aircraft Museum to name a few.
London is also a thriving cultural centre with an increasingly vibrant downtown filled with gay owned and operated shops and galleries like Jonathon Bancroft-Snell’s or ThaiFoon Restaurant. Downtown London is filled with fine dinning and elegant shops like Kingsmill’s department store, a local landmark since 1865. Other core attractions include the Covent Garden Market and the John Labatt Centre. London also has a beautiful series of river trails that follow the historic Thames River that branch out from the river forks in the heart of downtown.

For cultural events, the London Arts Council is your link to what’s happening. London features such cultural facilities as Museum London, McIntosh Gallery at Western, and The ARTS Project. There’s the Grant Theatre, the Palace Theatre and the most dynamic Fringe Festival in all of North America in June. During the summer months, London is home to numerous festivals including the Home County Folk Festival, SunFest, Pride London Festival, the Western Fair in September, as well as many multicultural community-based festivals.

London has also become known as a sports town and is home to the London Knights Hockey, FC London Soccer, London Silverbacks Football, and London Majors Baseball who play at Labatt Memorial Park, believed to be the oldest baseball park in North America opening as Tecumseh Park in 1877. The region boasts numerous golf courses including East Park Golf Gardens that also features Mini-Golf, Go-Karts, Batting Cages and Wally World Water Park which consists of 7 waterslides.
